Pet Marmoset’s Jason Gears and JP Pedersen teamed up to host a borderline clandestine interview, in order to learn the ins and outs of The Ascetic Junkies’ new album “This Cage Has No Bottom.” The Ascetic Junkies kindly shared deeper insights into their recording techniques, favorite picks from the album, nooks and crannies of their home, and treasure boxes. Feel free to have a listen!
Timber Carnival Records band and Portland’s own, the Ascetic Junkies, just released their first video from their album “This Cage Has No Bottom.” Completely hand-drawn and flash animated, by the Ascetic Junkies’ own Cole Huiskamp. It seems that the Ascetic Junkies talent knows no bounds. Check it out!
Here at Pet Marmoset we’ve had a busy several months with all of our releases. It feels great to believe in each one and Joshua English is right there at the top. We’re really excited to be able to help out such a talent, and such a great songwriter.
Joshua English is a modern day troubadour, naming both Portland, Oregon and Boston, Massachusetts as home, and everything in between as his playground. His new record, Lay Bare Your Bones, presents a unique brand of cynicism and leads a novel exploration of life’s ironies. With influences spanning Sam Cooke to Public Enemy, English’s forthcoming release reveals core threads of Brit-folk weaved over stylistic leanings akin to Chuck Ragan and Billy Bragg.
Feel free to download some tracks and share them with friends. We feel that everyone should have the opportunity to listen.
Our dear friends, The Ascetic Junkies, are back with a new LP, This Cage Has No Bottom. Holding true to their endearing blend of pop-infused bluegrass, the new record is a raw and rowdy hootenanny, showcasing the core of the Junkies magic: Matt Harmon and Kali Giaritta’s guy-girl harmonies, layered over whimsical melodies. On this sophomore release, listeners get a taste of the broad texture, lighthearted vibe, and reckless energy that turn the band’s live shows into keys and banjo-driven, romping stomping dance parties. Don’t be frightened if you find yourself toe-tappin’, and singin’ along. Make sure you check ‘em out, you won’t be disappointed.
The official Release date is November 16th, 2010. But feel free to have a listen, download some tracks, and share them with friends.
Pancake Breakfast is a nine-member roots machine from Portland, Oregon. Most of their songs were made up on a little farm, far away from the big city. Pancake Breakfast brings an old time rootsy and down to earth feel mixed with a whole lotta fun, to the masses. And there’s nothing more down to earth then having a nice sit down chat. Pet Marmoset’s Jason Gears and JP Pedersen sit down with Pancake Breakfast to discuss the record, how the band came to be, and some candid dialog. Note: Gears is the latest (and greatest!) addition to the Marmoset Team.
