Derby songwriter, Dave Gulick is a pretty emotional guy. And if emotions and personal experiences are the ingredients of Derby’s gravy, their meat and potatoes are The Kinks-meets-The Beatles britpop, dovetailed with smooth Beach Boys harmonies, punchy guitars and classic beats.Mastering the art and science of heartbreak, Posters Fade is a concept album of sorts, merging front man, Nat Johnson’s real life fear of bears, with themes that explore the emotional and psychological process of heartache. But don’t read too much into any of it. Give it a listen, from beginning to end, and see where the story takes you.
