YACHT
What’s that? Need some new music for the weekend? Well, fortunately Portland’s electronic, disco-revivalist duo YACHT has released a new album full of fresh butt-shaking tracks to soundtrack summer road trips and house parties. Even the—Liquid Liquid meets !!! single off See Mystery Lights is appropriately titled “Summer Song.” If you haven’t heard it already, it certainly needs to get added to the summer mix on your IPOD stat!

The Portland Mercury also has a featured article on the duo if your dying to know who these two are. Here’s the LINKIE.
Finally, the duo will be playing Holocene on August 25th with Au and Copy.
Small Black
In non-Northwest related music news, a new band out Brooklyn (surprise!) called Small Black has captured the ears of musicphiles all over the blogosphere this past week. The track “Despicable Dogs” off their upcoming self-released LP has been making the rounds and we couldn’t help but fall in love (and line) with it like everyone else. Their lo-fi, 80’s bedroom synth-pop has us swooning and we can’t wait for them to make it over to the left coast for a show. In fact, Small Black has a very similar sound to Portland’s very own and previously-mentioned on this blog, Wampire. Somebody should introduce the two. I smell a tour in the works!
You can pre-order their new album from Insound HERE.
