Pet Marmoset Summer Mix!

Please accept our apologies for the lack of posts these days… I’m on vacation in Europe and have virtually no access to the internet, email, etc. I was however able to load up the good ‘ol iPod right before leaving the States and have been listening to a lot of music while in transit (on planes, trains and automobiles).

While I’ve been getting reacquainted with Spoon’s entire catalog, I’ve found Beirut to make for quite the soundtrack for the European experience. I went on a 5 mile run early this morning and found myself really hitting my stride when a couple songs on the latest Heavenly States record came on. Damn, that’s some good rock n’ roll.

And with so much music listening over the past week or so, I’ve compiled what we’ll call the Pet Marmoset Summer Mix (in no particular order):

Yeasayer – Wait for the Summer
The New Pornographers – My Rights Versus Yours
Spoon – Black Like Me (Live on Spinner.com)
Derby – If Ever There’s A Reason
Connor Oberst and The Mystic Valley Band – Danny Callahan
Fleet Foxes – Mykonos
The Dimes – Winslow Homer (unreleased)
Beirut – Nantes
She & Him – Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?
The Old Believers – Granny’s Song
The Heavenly States – Lost in the Light
Of Montreal – Id Engager
MGMT – Time to Pretend
Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings – What Condition My Condition Is In
M.I.A. – Paper Planes
Spoon – The Way We Get By

On another note, I’ve been thus far unsuccessful at finding any nachos in Italy. It’s quite disappointing…but everything else has been wonderful. I even randomly ran into some of our friends in Portland – Ben and Maria. We knew they were going to be in Rome during the same time we were there…but didn’t think it was going to work out to meet up with them. And then, what do you know but we’re walking down the street near the Spanish Steps one evening and bam, there they are drinking beer outside of an English Pub. The two degrees of Portland is apparently international!

I’ll try to post some photos soon from my journey. Ciao!
