There seems to be a lot of new music that has arrived over the past few weeks… Some Northwest-based, some not… Rather than break it all down for you and tell you what I think, I challenge you to think for yourself, form your own opinions and give this new music a listen. And if you are indeed able to form some opinions, thoughtful or not, try leaving a comment and sharing with the rest of us.
Okkervil River – Lost Coastlines
Connor Oberst and The Mystic Valley Band – Danny Callahan
Spoon – Writing In Reverse (Live Unreleased Demo)
Boy Eats Drum Machine – The Crack In The Sea
All of these songs represent new music, new records, new releases and new tours from these artists. Please check them out, and if you like the song – buy the whole record and buy a ticket to the new live show they have in your neck of the woods.
Starfucker actually has their big CD release shows tomorrow night in Portland, Oregon. They’ve got two shows, one all ages and another 21+ at Doug Fir. Should be a crazy fun time.
Okkervil River is playing in Portland this Friday night with Sea Wolf at the Crystal Ballroom. If I can get a couple things to go my way, I hope to be at both shows. Maybe I’ll see you there.
Spoon is preparing for a big three night stand at the Fillmore in San Francisco near the end of the month, playing with my friends, The Heavenly States. If you live anywhere near the Bay area, make it a priority to get out to one, if not all of these shows. And if you’re lucky, maybe the Spoon boys will play this new one for ya (Writing in Reverse).
Really digging that Spoon song.
