This is brilliant – maybe you’ve noticed my use of Muxtape for my own Marmo-Radio on this page…maybe you haven’t. Essentially, I’ve posted a bunch of hand picked songs and playlists that you can listen to, streaming from any place where you have sufficient internet access to do so. Check it out.
Apparently I’m not the only one using Muxtape these days… In a brilliant strategy to release new, unreleased rarities and b-sides, one of my favorite bands, P-town’s own, Menomena, has effectively leveraged the power of Muxtape to push their music out to the masses.
I’m only about three songs into it as I type this, but so far, so good – really diggin on it. Mind you, there’s a reason these are “b-sides” and didn’t make their latest released albums. But seriously, if these are Menomena’s rejects, then these three guys are every bit as good as the hype. The third song on the playlist, “Gay A” is delicious and will be very appreciated to any genuine Menomena aficionado. Enjoy!

PS – This very much reinforces an indie/guerrilla music marketing strategy that I recently told my good friend, Johnny Clay, that I feel so strongly about that I’d go lay down in the middle of the street for: INCREASED FREQUENCY in the release of new music to the masses. I’m confident that the frequent release of new music will be an undeniable, key strategy component necessary for independent artists to succeed in the future. More on this concept in the future…
